There are many different techniques used to adjust the spine. Here at Harbourside our main goal is to keep our patients comfortable while getting them better at the same time as quickly as possible. Many people who have come to see us have had concerns about getting the adjustment. There are many techniques we use here at the office. The goal is to make sure we are getting the patients optimum results while making sure they are as comfortable as possible.
Dr. Brogna graduated from Palmer College of Chiropractic and is very fluent in many different techniques.

Adjustment Techniques Explained

The most common traditional type of adjusting is called Diversified. It is very hands on and a “pop” is usually heard when moving the spine which is gas being released from the joint when it is moving back into position.
For people who want things done less aggressively, Dr. Brogna also uses the Flexion/Distraction technique, Activator technique, and Thompson technique. Flexion Distraction uses a table that flexes and distracts to provide cervical and lumbar traction. It is very gentle and works well with patients suffering from disc issues, stenosis, or osteoporosis.
The Activator technique uses an instrument called an Activator to adjust the spine and joints. It is also very gentle and is great for people with severe arthritis, osteoporosis, or who would rather not hear a “pop” or “crack” with their adjustment.
The Thompson technique uses a “drop table” which we have in every one of our treatment rooms. Specific drops are used to align the spine and extremity joints and is often another way to adjust that is less invasive for the patient.
